Tigers’ soccer posts two shutout victories

The Hartselle Tigers soccer team, ranked 10th in the latest coaches poll, posted its fourth and fifth shutouts of the season in a 10-0 win over East Limestone and a 3-0 win over Athens.

Nick Vaughn has been the defensive stopper for the Tigers (9-2-2) in goal. He has started every game for Hartselle this season.

The Tigers were led by Slate Gargus, who scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of Hartselle’s rout of East Limestone. Also scoring for the Tigers was Owen Bennich with two goals, along with Vaughn, Luke Vinson, Hunter Lawrence and Owen Newton.

The two goals by Bennich were his 16th and 17th of the season.

Bennich added three assists, Alex Hatfield had two and Andre O’Leary had one.

Bennich led the charge with two goals in Hartselle’s win over Athens. Jack Adams netted the other goal for the Tigers.

Danville girls 10, JB Pennington 0
The fourth-ranked Danville Lady Hawks improved to 9-1 with a 10-0 victory over JB Pennington. Layla Sherrill led Danville with four goals and an assist, while Maddie Sherrill added two goals and an assist. Aaliyah Douglas also had two goals and an assist. Mia Brannon and Xochilt Beltran each had a goal. Elisabeth Hand had three saves in goal.

Priceville girls 6, West Morgan 1
4A No. 4 Priceville picked up a 6-1 victory over West Morgan behind three goals by AK Hopkins. The Lady Bulldogs, who led 2-0 at the half, outscored the Lady Rebels 4-1 in the second half.
