Annie B. Helms Waddell

Funeral for Annie B. Helms Waddell, 85, of Somerville was Tues., Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Pilkington and Kenneth Roberts officiating.

Burial was in Red Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Waddell died Sun., Jan. 8, 2012 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Morgan County to Charles Newman and Nanny Campbell Newman. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Women at Center Springs UMC. She was also an avid quilter, gardener and advisor. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin Lawson Helms and Victor Hugo Waddell and a son, Billy Frank Helms.

She is survived by four sons, Jerry Wayne Helms and wife Jo and Robert Sherrill Helms, both of Somerville, Melvin Gene Helms and wife Rosemary of Hartselle and Bobby Jack Helms and wife Diane of Lacon; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Helms of Lacey’s Spring; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Johnson, Bob Forton, W.C. Maze, Russell Chunn and Kevin Rooks.
