Funeral for Paulette Vest, 62, of Hartselle was Monday, May 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Vest died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born July 25, 1942, in her parents home in Talladega. She recently retired from being a long-term business associate and bookkeeper of the family business, Vest Metals. She was a member of New Center Baptist Church. Her husband, Earnest Vest, and her parents, Paul Calhoun Strickland and Leigh Beatrice Strickland, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Haywood of Hartselle and David Vest of Decatur; two stepsons, Eugene Vest and Kenneth Vest, both of Decatur; two daughters, Traci Slate and Patsy Haywood, both of Hartselle; one step-daughter, Brenda Vest of Decatur; one brother, William "Butch" Strickland of Talladega; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her longtime best friend and caretaker, Janice Foster.
Pallbearers were Sammy Lawrimore Sr., Sammy Lawrimore Jr., John Lott, Ricky Nunnelley, Christian Pierce and Barry Hampton.
