Bulldogs open season with win over Austin

The Priceville Bulldogs opened the 2024 season with a 9-5 win over 7A Austin. Brewer and Danville also started last week with the Patriots going 1-2, while Danville went 0-1.

Priceville 9, Austin 5
The Bulldogs picked up a win to open the 2024 season by defeating Austin 9-5. Colman Gann held the Black Bears to two runs on three hits over five innings while striking out nine to earn the win.

Priceville was led by the bat of Tyde Borden, who had two hits with a double and two RBIs, while Kane Dunn had a hit and two RBIs. Wes Walker had two hits with an RBI, while Jake Borden, Brodie Brown and Deacon Hall each had an RBI.

Levi Morgan led Austin with two hits, including a home run and four RBI.

Brewer 11, Elkmont 5
The Patriots earned their first win with an 11-5 victory over Elkmont. Brayden Murphy led Brewer at the plate and on the mound. He finished with three hits and two RBI, while pitching four innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs on four hits while striking out four. Logan Powers had a double and drove in two runs.

J.B. Pennington 16, Brewer 8
Brewer fell to JB Pennington after the Tigers broke open a 5-4 game with seven runs in the top of the fifth and added four more in the seventh for the 16-8 win. DJ Burney had two RBI, while Marc Rychetsky, Murphy, Logan Paseur and Carson Johnson each had an RBI.

Guntersville 13, Brewer 2
The Patriots opened the season with a 13-2 loss on the road at Guntersville. Matthew Matkin and Murphy each scored a run, while Powers and Paseur each had a hit in the loss last Thursday.

Good Hope 7, Danville 6
Danville opened the season with a 7-6 loss to Good Hope this past Saturday. Jackson Randolph led the Hawks with three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Reece Cowart doubled, singled and had two RBI, while Eli Coker and Avery Brewer each added two hits and an RBI.
