Local organizations to offer help with school supplies

Several local organizations are hosting school supply giveaways and supply drives to help families in need in the area. The Hartselle Church of Christ will hold a school supply giveaway August 3. The giveaway will take place at the church from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The giveaway will take place in the fellowship until supplies are gone. Hartselle Church of Christ is located at 700 Sparkman Street SW in Hartselle.

Feeding Families of Alabama is also holding a school supply drive to support some of the families in need. Donations can be made at Mt. Tabor Church in Hartselle or at any of the Feeding Families donation boxes throughout the community.

In a Facebook post, Edee Grun, Feeding Families organizer said the drive was especially necessay for the families that may already be struggling to provide food. “I was amazed at the volume and expense of supplies listed on each school supply list last year! Not sure how any parent can manage to buy all that, much less a parent who is struggling just to get food for their kids,” Grun wrote in the post.
