Funeral for James E. Patterson Jr., 76, of Hartselle was Wednesday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Stanford officiating.
Burial was in the New Friendship Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Patterson died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at his residence. He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Morgan County to James Eldridge Patterson and Alberta "Birdie" Artist Cook Patterson. He was retired from Kroger where he was a meat cutter. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 721, a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a charter member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Linda Patterson and Leona Patterson and brother of the late Jesse Cook and Poca Breeding.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Everine Patterson of Hartslle; six sons, James E. Patterson III, Carlton W. Patterson, Dave J. Patterson and Timothy E. Patterson, all of Hartselle, Henry P. Patterson of Somerville and Walter D. Patterson of Lacey's Spring; three daughters, Patricia Pevahouse and Winyona King, both of Hartselle and Faith Johns of Somerville; one brother, J.P. Patterson of Somerville; one sister, Jewel Autrey of Prattville; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge No. 721.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons.
