Revolutionary War poster award winning students

Seven Hartselle fifth grade students were recognized for their achievements in a recent American Revolutionary War poster contest they were involved in.

Among the students was Kayleen Coggins who was awarded with first place out of the entire Morgan County firth grade contest.

“I did my poster on Molly Pitcher and hand drew her picture with the water and the cannon,” Coggins said. “I chose her because I felt like she was really courageous.”

Students were responsible for picking their own themes for their poster board drawings as long as they were in direct relation with the American Revolutionary War. Another fifth grader, Kennedy Cataline said she chose to do a piece on Benjamin Franklin.

“I know a lot of people chose to do him and his inventions, but instead of doing that, I tried to focus on just the things he did during the Revolutionary War,” she said.

Cataline and five others received honor mention on their poster boards. Awards will be presented to these students and others on Feb. 13, 2017, in Huntsville.
