Decatur police officers are warning residents to keep an eye on their vehicles, as police reported 15 cases of vandalism on Nov. 14.

The reports of criminal mischief happened between 3 and 6 a.m. with most damage to the vehicles on windows by what seems to be  blunt objects, police said. Some of the reports were damage done to mailboxes.

The only suspect information available at this time is a small, dark colored vehicle with loud exhaust roaming the city during these hours.

Police said several victims reported hearing a small “4-cylinder” type car with a loud exhaust just before being notified that their vehicles were vandalized.

Officers are asking that anyone who notices suspicious activity report it to law enforcement. They advice checking home surveillance systems for houses in the affected areas to see if anything was recorded that may help them in their search for the suspect.
