The Hartselle Morgan County Community Task Force (HMCCTF) will hold its Third Annual “Helping our Children Excel” Banquet on Sat., April 9, 2016. The banquet will be held at the Hartselle Camp Meeting Tabernacle, located at 35 Tabernacle Road in Hartselle. A silent auction will be held from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. with the banquet beginning at 6 p.m.  Tickets are $25 each; reserved tables are $200, $300 and $400.  Tickets and tables are available by contacting Randy Love at (256) 227-8200 or George Hearring at (256) 919-9194.

The HMCCTF was established to bring the community together and help the children of the community. They offer a free after school tutoring program that utilizes the skills of paid certified teachers as tutors. A staff of volunteers and community partners are also included in the program.

Each student is provided with a snack prior to completing their homework and school projects they have been assigned. There is also an extensive four-week program offered during the summer, which pre-tests for actual skills and a post evaluation to determine growth at the end of the four weeks.

HMCCTF has also provided services since 1995 to the residents of the Hartselle community such as an active substance abuse and lifestyle change assistance program to enable them to live a drug free and productive life. They also offer assistance to the elderly and provide beneficial information related to local services.

Former participants are now leaders of the community and productive members of society. They benefit their community as great husbands, wives and parents who are now doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers, coaches, welders and carpenters. HMCCTF operates under the premise that education is the responsibility of individuals who have the capacity, desire and will to engage the youth of the community, which are the future. This group has shown that education improves the lives of individuals and communities, but the task is unending.

HMCCTF thanks all for the past support and ask that the community continue to support the efforts of the group.
