Hartselle girls fall to Tanner in DOC

DECATUR – Tanner shot 55 percent from the field to hand Hartselle a 60-40 loss in a loser’s bracket game at the Decatur Orthopaedic Clinic Classic last week at Decatur High School.
Hartselle struggled early in the game and trailed 12-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Kanesia Elliott led the Lady Tigers with 10 points in the loss. Katelyn Hill finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Belaine Allen and Melissa Paul Hill added seven points each.
Sentoyah Harper and Shaquinta Sales both finished with 21 points for the Lady Rattlers.
Sales also had 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double in the win.
Tanner stretched its lead to seven points at 24-17 at the half and began to pull away from the Lady Tigers.
The lead grew to a 22-point advantage in the fourth quarter when the Lady Rattlers posted a 18-8 run over the final eight minutes.
Hartselle finished the game shooting just 29 percent from the field against the No. 2 ranked team in Class 2A. The Lady Tigers made just 11 of 35 shots from the field.
Hartselle made just three of its 14 shots from behind the 3-point line.
The Lady Tigers will return to action Friday with an area game at Brewer.
