Punkin Center Volunteer Fire Dept. will host a turkey and ham shoot on Sat., Nov. 9, at Station 2. The fundraiser will start at 8 a.m., 3.00 for the turkey shoot and $5 for the ham shoot. All proceeds will go to the Fire Dept. and all support will be greatly appreciated.

The Endless Opportun-ities Organization sponsored a Hands-On Career Expo for Morgan, Hartselle and Decatur eighth grade students on Thur., Oct. 17, at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion. Danville Middle School eighth graders, teachers and some parents attended. Sixteen Career Clusters were set up. Everyone learned about different opportunities in the Tennessee Valley and were able to speak with the people now involved in those occupations. The exhibits were also very informative. Some Danville students were especially interested in the medical and health care, police and firefighters, auto mechanics and bodywork, truckers and computers.

Gail Miller of Neel, Judy Davis and Belinda Ricks of Andrews Chapel community and Dawn Henslee of Hartselle attended a DUI Counselors Confer-ence in Orange Beach Oct. 22 -25. These women have classes for drivers with DUI arrests in Morgan, Limestone and Cullman counties.

Christian love and heartfelt prayers are expressed this week for Lorene Bryant who fell at her home in Massey. She was released from Decatur-Morgan Hospital on Sat., Oct. 26. She will be in Summerford’s Rehab Center for 20 days. She is in room 230. Sandra Sims deGraffenried, formerly of Danville, was one of the leaders of the Republican Women’s Conference in Orange Beach, October 26-27. The meetings were at the Perdido Beach Resort. Sandra brought the keynote speaker, an American journalist, who was born in Lebanon. She speaks to conservative clubs, Christian and Jewish groups about terrorists and how terrorism is being taught to children in her former home region. Sandra is active in the Republican Women’s groups of Madison and Baldwin Counties.

Nicki Tillman and Hunter Tillman of Roundtop community attended a Halloween pumpkin carving party hosted by Patsy Haywood. This carving party is a tradition and is held on the Saturday preceding Halloween. Prizes are awarded by the family. Friends, family and sometimes drop-ins enjoy chili, hotdogs, popcorn, cara-mel apples, Halloween cupcakes and candy.

Sally Kerr of Massey attended the wedding of her niece ,Natalie Kerr, on Sat., Oct. 26, in Vestavia. The Alridge Gardens were the setting for the ceremony and reception. Natalie is the daughter of Bobby Kerr, formerly of Massey. He is the son of the late Mary Hardwick Kerr and the grandson of Woodfin and Rosa Hardwick.

Jenny Turney from the Forrest Chapel United Methodist Women’s Unit, Linda Ryan from Salem United Methodist Women and Carolyn Besnyl from the McKendree United Methodist Women, attended the annual district meeting on Sat., Oct. 26. The host church was First United Methodist in Sheffield. Their women’s group served coffee and other refreshments. Officers for the coming year were elected and other items of business voted on. The district and conference United Methodist Women sponsor several joint projects during the year.
