Hartselle Medical Center has welcomed a new doctor.
Dr. Gocha Saliashvili is a cardiologist who is affiliated with the Heart Center, one of North Alabama’s premier providers of cardiology services. Saliashvili will now be working at Hartselle Medical Center three days per week.
Saliashvili is affiliated with Huntsville Hospital and Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. He will be providing diagnostic testing and cardiac rehabilitation services. Cardiac surgery will be done at the other hospitals.
The addition of Saliashvili helps Hartselle Medical continue its cardiology services, especially in the area of cardiology rehabilitation. The out-patient program allows people who have had cardiac problems continue to lead healthy lives. It’s designed for those who have had a heart attack, heart surgery or are considered at high risk for heart disease. It includes one-hour exercise sessions three times a week, as well as constant heart monitoring, educational sessions and stress management.
Saliashvili is a graduate of Tbilisi State Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Georgian Research Institute of Internal Medicine. He then completed a Research Fellowship at the Department of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University.
Before coming to the United States Saliashvili was practicing physician in Georgia. Upon his arrival in the United States, he completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship and Transitional Year Internship at the Department of Medicine Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. He then entered the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at UAB in Montgomery, followed by his General Cardiology Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
