The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said a Hartselle man was found in possession of over 4 pounds of meth on Monday after an investigation by their Drug Enforcement Unit led to a vehicle stop near Cedar Lake Road and Sandlin Road in Decatur.

Methamphetamine that the Sheriff’s Office said it recovered from the vehicle of William Tyrone Campbell.

William Tyrone Campbell, 50, was charged with trafficking meth and held in Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Jail records show he was released Nov. 20.

An investigator’s affidavit signed Nov. 21 and filed in Morgan County District Court says Campbell’s vehicle was pulled over because he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Central Parkway.

Deputies said they smelled marijuana emanating from Campbell’s vehicle and that Campbell admitted to having a blunt inside, according to the affidavit.

“During a continued search, (deputies) located a white bucket in the backseat,” the affidavit reads. “Inside of the bucket, two clear Tupperware containers with green lids were found. Inside of those containers, agents located a large quantity of a crystalline substance that tested positive as methamphetamine.”

Trafficking more than a kilogram of meth in Alabama is a felony punishable by a minimum of 15 years imprisonment.
