Falkville track and field athletes compete in Junior Olympics

Five Falkville track and field athletes recently competed in the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The championships were held at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field.

Amelia Lopez, Lynsley Hayes, Amberly and Brody Bennett competed at the junior Olympics. Jude Tew qualified but did not compete.

Amelia Lopez
Lopez ran in the 100-meter hurdles and finished with a time of 18.60.

Lynsley Hayes
Hayes competed in the women’s discus throw and the shot put. She finished with a discus throw of 29.36 meters and a shot put of 9.95 meters.

Amberly Bennett
Bennett competed in the women’s discus throw, javelin throw and the shot put. She finished with a discus throw of 22.75 meters. She threw for 14.57 meters in the javelin and had a shot put of 8.58 meters.

Brody Bennett
Bennett competed in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles and triple jump. He set personal and season-best records with a finish of 18.30 in the 110 hurdles and finished with a triple jump of 11.28 meters.

Jud Tew
Tew qualified for the boys’ high jump and triple jump but did not compete.
