A six-game winning streak in a two-day span resulted in the Hartselle softball team bringing home its first tournament trophy of the season as the Lady Tigers dominated the Morgan County Tournament from start to finish to claim the championship.

“Winning the Morgan County Tournament is always a huge accomplishment,” said Hartselle head coach Christy Ferguson. “Especially when you compete against a very good team from Danville. It carries a sense of pride for our players to win this for our school and community. We have in the past used the success in the Morgan County Tournament as momentum to propel our team into the postseason.”

Hartselle (25-9) knocked off Brewer twice, Falkville twice and then picked up victories over area-rival Austin and Danville to earn the tournament win.

In the tournament championship game against Danville, Hartselle picked up a 5-0 win in four innings. The game was abbreviated and did not begin until around 10 p.m. on Friday night. Katy Sparkman picked up the victory in the circle securing the shutout and allowing just two hits. Emily Cowart had the game-breaking play for the Lady Tiger offense. Her three-run homer in the third inning gave Hartselle more than enough breathing room to earn the win.
