Priceville’s late season run ended Saturday morning when the Bulldogs lost to Cordova 72-41 in the sweet sixteen of the Northwest regional tournament. After having a rough year in which they were forced replace seven seniors and ended the regular season below .500, the Bulldogs caught fire in the postseason. Priceville stunned West Limestone to win the area championship and then defeated Central-Florence to get to the regional tournament. However, the Blue Devils proved to be too much for the Bulldog’s late season magic.

Cordova opened the game on a 7-0 run and led after one 14-3. Priceville finished the first quarter already with seven fouls and it didn’t get any better from there. Cordova led at halftime 37-11 and won the game 72-41.

“We knew coming in they were going to try and slow it down and we wanted to keep it our pace.” Said Cordova head coach Jason Adkins. “We’re at our best when we’re playing fast.” Despite the loss, Priceville head coach Darrell Haynes looks at this season as a success. “It’s been a good run and a lot of fun.” Haynes said. “We played in the county finals, won the area and got to host the sub regional game and made it to regionals.” Senior Aubrey Richardson will look back on this season as one he will never forget. “This has been my favorite season by far since it was my senior year.” Richardson said. “I’ve played with these guys my whole life and any time I get to play with them it’s awesome. I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.”

McClain Thompson led the Bulldogs in the game with nine points while Brandon Speegle finished with eight. Kolbi Fuqua led Cordova with 17. Priceville finishes the season with a 14-17 record.
