The Hartselle City Board of Education started accepting resumes Feb 1. to fill the vacant Chief Financial Officer position.

A work session was added to the meeting list for Mon., Jan 30,  to discuss the potential hiring and payment plan of a new CFO. Superintendent Dr. Vic Wilson said the CFO position needs to be filled in 45 days.

“We’re trying to create our next steps for hiring either an interim person or permanent Chief Financial Officer,” Wilson said during the meeting. “We want to hire someone that has a good background, moral character and create a sense of loyalty here. We’re looking at comparable school systems salaries and will update the information to post the job. “

The former Hartselle City Schools CFO John Godwin resigned on Jan. 31, 2017, after he was put on administrative leave Dec. 1, 2016, following a personnel investigation.

Two other employees who came with Godwin from Morgan County Board of Education resigned on December 13, and one has resumed her former responsibilities with Morgan County.

Wilson said the job description will be put online with a salary range from $85,000-$110,000. They are looking to have the spot filled with a new CFO beginning May 1, 2017.
