VONDALE SHANEYFELT MERRITT REMEMBERED WITH MUCH LOVE

Christian love and heartfelt sympathy goes out this week for the family and friends of Vondale Shaneyfelt Merritt who recently passed away. Mrs. Merritt is well known and loved by her children who take piano lessons, the First Baptist Church of Hartselle Congregation, where she was the church organist, and also her family and friends from home and years of travel and living away.

She grew up in the Lebanon Baptist Church area near Falkville and graduated at Falkville High School. Vondale grew up by Flint Creek and the old wooden noisy bridge that people were afraid to cross. Vondale with be missed but her music will always be with us. There’s the quotation, “The Song Has Ended But The Melody Lingers On . ”

The Members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church held their New Years services on Sun., Jan. 1. The Women’s Missionary Union meeting will be on Mon., Jan. 16. The Women will have Bible study and business session for making plans for the year. Members enjoyed a fellowship supper on Wed., Jan. 4 with a church business meeting following at 7 p.m.            The Youth at Fairview -the Grace Place went to North Carolina from Dec. 30 through Jan. 2 for a Youth Conference and snow skiing adventure. Clay Tankersley is the Youth Minister. Several chaperones assisted Clay with the trip. The College group went to Atlanta to the Passion Conference on Jan. 2 through Jan. 4. A group of older adults also attended with the young people.

Christian love and heartfelt sympathy goes out this week for the family of Carl Brazell. Special get well wishes go out this week for Linda Huskey who is recuperating at home.

Plans for the Jan. Senior Citizens Day to be held on Tue., Jan. 17 were made at the Corinth West Baptist Women’s group meeting on Sun., Jan. 1. Folks will bring pots of beans or peas, cornbread, slaw and whatever sides of their choice and desserts. Kamee Morgan presided over the business meeting. Shanda Garner served breakfast to the group and provided food for the Men’s meeting.                                  On Dec. 11, Emmanuel and Glenda Yoder visited her parents at Massey. Elvin and Barbara Yoder enjoyed having their family together. Emmanuel Yoder delivered the message at the Massey Mennonite Church on Dec. 11 at the morning worship hour. Donald Yoder and family moved from Rutherford, Tennessee to Massey on Dec. 17

Eli Rauffman had family visitors over the holidays. Leonard and Freeman Weaver also had family company for the Dec. holidays.

Mose, Elvin and Barbara Yoder’s family from Texas, Alaska, Georgia and Kentucky visited during Dec.

Mike Hershberger and family of Newcomerstown, Ohio were at Massey and he conducted the Dec. 25 morning service at the Mennonite Church. He is Sam Nisly’s son-in-law. The Sam Nisly’s also had family visitors over the holidays. Their visitors were Dennis and Donna Petre and children from Moulton on Dec. 25.

Ellen Brenneman and Lowell Brenneman and family went to Aroda, Virginia for their brother, Henry Brenneman,s funeral on Dec. 28.

Mose Yoder and family visited the Ark in Kentucky on Dec. 26.
