Hartselle’s boy came into Brewer after an upsetting loss to Athens earlier in the week. However, Brewer had an exciting overtime victory over Decatur. The two looked to have a rivalry matchup at Brewer on Friday, November 18.

Brewer won the opening tipoff but immediately knocked the ball out of bounds, which gave Hartselle the first possession. After Hartselle came up empty on their possession, Brewer turned around and scored first off an and one play. With Brewer up 3-0, Hartselle turned around and scored nine straight putting them up 9-3. Brewer’s John Graves ended Hartselle’s run with a 3 to make it 9-6. The two teams kept going back and forth to finish the period with Hartselle leading 14-10.

To open the second period, Brewer’s Levi Kelley drained a three and was also fouled which sent him to the line where he made his free throw to tie the game at 14. Kyle Eddy came right back down the court and drained a three to bring it back to a 17-14 Hartselle lead. A minute later Brewer got two more narrowing the Tiger’s lead to one, but then Eddy again drained another three to make it 20-16. The two teams swapped scores back and forth for the rest of the half. Hartselle took a 28-26 lead into the half.

When the third period began, Hartselle’s Kyle Eddy scored the first points, which made it 30-26. Brewer came right back and scored their own two. Then, two big free throws by Eric Stephenson and yet another three pointer by Kyle Eddy gave Hartselle a little momentum, as they went on a 10-4 run in the next minute that made it 40-30 with 3 minutes remaining in the third period. Hartselle and Brewer continued their back and forth basketball as they finished the period 48-37 with Hartselle on top.

Hartselle’s Trace Hill scored first to start the final period of play, with a three pointer that made the score 51-37. Brewer took the ball back down the court and scored two of their own. Kyle Eddy again drained another three that made it a 15-point game at 54-39. The teams went back and forth before Trace Hill put up another three pointer, and Keondre Swoopes got two that made it five straight for Hartselle at 59-39. Brewer took the ball down the court and got three points off an and one play, but that proved to be too little too late. Hartselle continued their aggressive game as they finished the rest of the final minutes with a game winning score of 62-46 over the Brewer Patriots.
