By Lauren Thornton Tobin

A Hartselle man is in jail after allegedly breaking into a vehicle and stealing a Decatur woman’s purse on Nov. 6.
According to police, a Decatur resident called Morgan County Dispatch and told them a man broke into her car and took her purse.
Apparently a witness at the scene scared the suspect away, later identified as Jeremy Taylor, 46, 41 Taylorville Drive in Hartselle, and gave police a description of Taylor including his clothing and the vehicle he was driving.
The witness told police Taylor allegedly shattered the driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle using a screwdriver.
Decatur Lt. Jonathan Green located Taylor and Property Crimes Unit Det. Demetrius Hightower arrested him.
Taylor went Decatur Police Department where he was charged with Breaking into a Vehicle in the 3rd degree and Possession of Burglary Tools.
Authorities later took Taylor to Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
