Gene Elba Lankford

Funeral for Gene Elba Lankford, 88, of Mount Olive will be Sun., Aug. 28, at 3 p.m. at Rideout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale 35071. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m., immediately preceding the service.

Mr. Lankford died Sat., Aug. 20, 2016, in Birmingham. He was born July 25, 1928. He attended first and second grades in Hartselle before moving to Birmingham. He was a regular visitor for decoration day at Mount Tabor Cemetery where his parents, Arthur and Lottie Lankford, are buried. He was employed for 42 years by ACIPCO in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by wife, Earline Lankford; a son, Jim Lankford; and a grandson, Mark Lankford.

He is survived by a son, David Lankford (Jo-Ellen); grandchildren, Matthew Lankford and Anne Lankford; and great-grandchildren, Piper Lankford and Ethan Lankford, all of St. Louis, Mo.
