Hartselle approved annexation

The city council of the City of Hartselle approved annexation of approximately five acres and a single-family residence located at 1618 Tunsel Rd. S.W. at the recent council meeting held on May 24, 2016. The property was zoned R-1 residential. The property was fully surrounded by annexation. The Planning Commission recommended annexation and zoning of the property on a vote of 7-0. A public hearing was held prior to the vote to annex.

The council also approved the adoption of the 2012 International Building Code after a public hearing and final consideration.

In other action the council approved a bid from Hannah’s Lawn and Landscaping Service for mowing and landscape maintenance at the I-65 exits. Hannah’s bid was $42,000 with the next bid being $64,500 from Wyatt Enterprises, Inc.

The council approved a budget transfer from Public Works for $2,500 from the Landfill Gas and Oil line item to the Sanitary Uniforms line item. This should cover the uniform line item for the rest of the fiscal year.

The council also approved Mayor Bill Smelser to continue as a representative on the Morgan County Industrial Park and Economic Development Cooperative District board.
