Falkville softball falls to Cold Springs

Cold Springs defeated Falkville 9-6 Saturday to clinch home field advantage in the area tournament next week.

Maddie White took the loss, allowing nine runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings. However, she was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, triple, an RBI and a run scored.

Kaitlyn McMurray calmed down the Cold Springs bats, allowing one hit and two walks with five strikeouts during the final three and one-third innings. She also had a double and an RBI.

Callie Garner, Cheyenne Wilson and Emily Gray had the other hits for Falkville.

After allowing two runs in the opening stanza, Falkville scored three runs in the second inning to take a 3-2 advantage.

That didn’t last long as Cold Springs scored two in the third inning and five in the fourth inning to take a 9-3 lead.

Falkville scored runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Maddie White struck out four while allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks to get the win over area rival Cold Springs. She also had a double and a run scored.

Kaitlyn McMurray paced the Blue Devils with a 3-for-3 effort with two runs scored and a triple.

Callie Garner, Paige Garner, Bracey Thompson and Mackenzie Smith each had hits for Falkville.
