Girls basketball: Cullman 44, Hartselle 37

Riley Terry’s 13 points were not enough to help the Lady Tigers knock off Cullman in a key region game Friday night.

Hartselle started strong by taking a 14-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Cullman took advantage of a nearly seven-minute Hartselle drought to build a 24-20 halftime lead.

Both teams exchanged runs in the third quarter, with Hartselle closing the quarter on a 7-0 run to cut the Cullman advantage to 35-30.

The Lady Tigers had chances to cut the deficit, as Cullman committed numerous turnovers down the stretch, but the Lady Tigers couldn’t muster enough offense to rally at the end.

Madison Williams also had eight points followed by Melissa-Paul Hill and Katie Glasgow with five each, Allie Roden with three, Sarah Ellen Battles with two and Riley Corum with one.

Christina Skinner and Baylee Johnson led Cullman with 15.
