Lindsey Ann Short of Hubert, N.C. and Sgt. Christopher Dewayne Grant of Camp Lejune, Jacksonville, N.C. were married Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. at the home of the groom’s grandparents, Norman and Ann Guthery of Hartselle. The outside ceremony was held against a backdrop replica of an old house with front porch adorned with hanging ferns.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Mindy Foster of Dallas, Tex. and John Short of Oklahoma City, Okla.
The groom is the son of Sherman and Sherry Grant of Decatur and Kim Laney of Eva.
Brother Phillip Hardin officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, Steve Foster.
The bride chose a formal strapless gown from David’s Bridal. She carried a bouquet of long stem red roses and yellow calla lilies.

Whitney Short, sister of the bride, Dallas, Tex., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were friends of the bride, Erica Ramirez, Camp Lejune, N.C. and Chelsea Castillo and Calleen Crowson, both of Austin, Tex. They wore crimson T-strap satin tea length dresses and carried a long stem yellow calla lily and red roses.
Maddie and Emma Ferguson, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Randon Soultaire, cousin of the bride, San Antonio, Tex. was ring bearer.
Best man was the groom’s grandfather, Norman Guthery of Hartselle.
Groomsmen were Sherman Grant, father of the groom, Decatur, Cody Waddel, brother of the groom, Priceville and Shannon Ferguson, cousin of the groom, Hartselle.
Ushers were Tyler Jolley, cousin of the groom, Hartselle and Matthew Foster, brother of the groom, Dallas, Tex.
Music was provided by Thomas Martin of West Point. The bride had the first dance with her stepfather to the song, “I loved her first.”
A reception was given  after the ceremony by the groom’s grandparents, Norman and Ann Guthery, at their home. The bride’s table held a four-tier white wedding cake with cream frosting adorned with red roses and topped by a Marine and bride. The table was covered with rose petals and M&M’s with the names of the bride and groom on them.
The groom’s table held an Alabama cake, white with houndstooth and a big red “A” on top and a Marine statue and other Alabama Crimson Tide memorabilia.
Mary Ann Soultaire, aunt of the bride, San Antonio, Tex. was the wedding director.
Ann Cagle, Falkville, catered and assisted the reception with her daughter.
The couple left the reception under an arch of sparklers created by the wedding guests. The couple will honeymoon in the spring after the groom’s discharge from the Marine Corps and will reside in Hartselle.
The couple was honored with a rehearsal party hosted by the groom’s grandparents, Norman and Ann Guthery.
The bridal luncheon was given by the bride’s friends and family on Aug. 28, in Dallas, Tex..
