Youth groups team up for project

A youth group from Shady Grove Baptist Church recently joined with youth from St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Decatur to conduct a local mission project.
For seven days, they built wheelchair ramps, painted a house and did lots of yard and landscape work. They also served meals to the homeless and enjoyed reading poems and visiting with residents of The Terrace in Priceville. They also grew spiritually through Bible study and devotions.
During free time periods they enjoyed swimming, playing putt putt golf and participating in other activities.
The mission team consisted of the following: T. J. Braswell, Andrea Carter, Crystal Carter, Morgan Doherty, Patrick Doherty, Taylor Jones, Willie, Charlice and Andy LaFavor, Hunter LaRoche, Regan LaRoche, Jenna Locklear, Dylan Newell, Shane Parker, Mason Solomon, Vinnie Sottile, Jordan Spinks, Andrew Terry, Matthew Terry and Rachel Terry.
Adults who worked with them were Clay Locklear, Beau Terry and several mothers. Mary Terry fixed goody bags for the kids and prepare supper one night.
Special belated happy birthday wishes go out to Lee Gray on Aug. 3, Jeremy Johnson on Aug. 4, Tianna Cross on Aug. 6, Justin Morgan on Aug. 7, Amber Pendleton and Jeff Robertson, both on Aug. 10 and Willie LaFavor and Robert Spinks, both on Aug. 11.
Belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week to Charles and Sadie Long and Kenneth and Linda LaRoche, both of whom celebrated their 45th anniversary on Aug. 7.
Special happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week to Bill and Janice Hargett. They will celebrate their 24th anniversary on Aug. 15.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Helen Alred and Tommy Spinks and Charles Morgan, all on Aug. 12, Louise Morris on Aug. 13, Steve Poole and Keri Callahan, both on Aug. 14 and Stanley Self on Aug. 15.
The Alabama Sheriff’s Boys Ranch will conduct its fifth annual Just Kruzin fundraising project on Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fundraiser is open to anything that rolls, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors etc. Also featured will be golden oldies music, good food, door prizes and drawings for other prizes. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fee to enter is $25 per vehicle, which is tax deductible.
