Oden Ridge marks Founder’s Day

Well it’s summer again, not my favorite time of the year. We have already had very  hot weather for this time of year.
I go early and work in my garden and by 9 a.m. I am covered in sweat and my hair is completely drenched. Of course, I have to shower as soon as I get back to the house. Bugs, ugh! I have never seen so many. My daughter has already been stung by a wasp. Of course she wound up in the emergency room. She had one shot at home but had to have another at the hospital. Two of my daughters are so allergic to bee and wasp stings that they could die without the shots.
I thought seriously about going to North Dakota for the summer but just couldn’t afford it. I could not stand being snowed in for most of the winter so everywhere I go it’s bad times.
We had a wonderful time recently when several of our grandkids went to Bible school at Rock Creek. The theme was Saddle Ridge Ranch. This was the best Bible school I believe I’ve ever seen.
I want to thank Bro. Jeff and all the people for a wonderful job with our kids.
Lorene Dunlap’s children enjoyed last Saturday with her. They all gather every other Saturday to have dinner and visit with her. What a wonderful tradition.
We were sorry to hear Ruby Oden lost her older sister, Efie Graveman, recently. She was 94.
Don DeQuasada’s mother, Cindi, was in a terrible wreck on Interstate 65 recently. She suffered a confession, broken ribs and cuts and bruises but was sent home. Try and tell me miracles don’t happen.
We have several prayer requests this week. My children’s father, Noah Simmons, has been in Huntsville Hospital. At the time he is better and going to Summerford Nursing Home for rehab. Also, pray for our friends going through chemotherapy and other treatments. Maudie Garnett has started this, also Gordon Adkins. Paul Shelton still needs prayer.
We send late happy birthdays to my daughter Teresa Kinney on June 14 and granddaughter Jessica June 23.
We have enjoyed having our daughter Donna Hillyer and granddaughter Deanna and her children visiting her for a while.
Oden Ridge celebrated Founders Day recently. The fire department personnel were great hosts. They prepared all the food and music which everyone enjoyed. Last of all, we enjoyed the fireworks.
