Trio of Hartselle men face charges of making meth

By Staff
A trio of Hartselle men were arrested last week on charges they were producing methamphetamine.
Agents with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force searched a home at 25 Pine Cone Private Drive in Falkville after receiving information the residents were cooking meth.
During the search, agents found a clandestine meth “shake and bake” lab with two one-pot meth labs, meth material extracted from liquid and precursor chemicals. They also found finished meth, drug paraphernalia, two semi-automatic handguns and one loaded semi-automatic rifle.
This is the second meth lab found at the home since July 25.
Arrested at the scene were Derrick Early Hopper, 23, of 653 Highway 36 East in Hartselle, Jody Brian Maples, 38, of 55 Terry Road in Hartselle and Christopher Stanley Wells, 27, of 233 Peachtree Road in Hartselle.
They were each charged with manufacture of a controlled substance in the first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hopper’s and Maples’ bonds were set at $305,000 and Wells’ bond was set at $50,000.
