Relay For Life thanks sponsors
Editor,
On behalf of the more than 1.3 million people who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Hartselle Committee would like to thank all the dedicated individuals, generous contributors and organizers of the May 12-13 event at E.A.R.T.H. Park.
This successful event raised $51,747 for the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy and patient support programs, and donations are still coming in. Our community really came together for this cause and we are so grateful for that support. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time, talent and resources to help those touched by cancer.
Relay For Life Hartselle had 24 teams participate by walking throughout the night. More than 400 luminaria lined the walking path in honor of those living with cancer and in memory of those who lost their battle with the disease. A special ceremony recognized and remembered those who have been touched by cancer.
We would like to thank our sponsors for this inaugural event: Survivor Sponsor–Brewer JROTC; Spirit Award–Morgan County High School Class of 1975;
Wall of Hope Sponsors–Gilchrist Pharmacy and Hartselle Medical Center;
Community Sponsor–State Farm Insurance (Charles Howse, Chad Huey, Bill Burdette); Friends of Relay For Life–Hartselle Rotary, Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home, Family Security, Wachovia, Copeland, Corum's Building &Farm Supply and Woodward Construction; In-kind Sponsors–Morgan County Rescue Squad, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Americ, Hartselle Enquirer and J&M Signs.
