Fall kickoff: A look at the Priceville Bulldogs

Fall camp opened this week for the Priceville Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs enter year five under Coach Chris Foster, who is 35-11 at Priceville. He has led the Bulldogs to school-record win totals each of the last two seasons. The Bulldogs won 4A Region 8 last season.

They open the season Aug. 25 at Plainview.

Until then, take a look at this year’s Bulldogs below and check back for a story, roster and pictures in the 2023 Morgan County Football Preview Magazine.

2022 Record: 11-1, lost in the second round of the 4A state playoffs at Oneonta

Key Returners: Blitz Clemons, Brody Oliver, Brody Collins, Decon Hall, Isaiah Mendoza, Ryan Hanks

Key Losses: Mason Cartee, Jake Langlois, Xander Gaines, Larson Speegle, Jaylen Moseley, Jackson Prickett, Sage Smothers, Brodie Mattox

Newcomer: Jake England

Preview: Heading into Coach Foster’s fifth season, the Bulldogs will be the youngest team he has fielded. He returns an experienced offensive line, but the offense will have new starters in each of the skill positions. Blitz Clemons is replacing all-state selection Mason Cartee at running back, while Hartselle transfer Jake England takes over at quarterback. The defense will be led by the defensive line that is led by Brody Oliver. Brody Collins steps into the void left by all-state selection Jake Langlois. The secondary will be new once again.

Coach Speak: “Blitz Clemons has put in a lot of work in the offense to prepare for this season. He has put on some muscle and weight to help take the hits.” – Coach Chris Foster

“We have a lot of guys who understand the offensive system, so we do not have to make many changes in our offensive line. This group is going to have to lead us early on.” – Foster
