Hartselle Enquirer names all-area football team

The Hartselle Enquirer has released its all-area football team for the 2022 high school season. The team is comprised of players from Hartselle, Brewer, Danville, Falkville and Priceville.

The team is compiled from nominations by area coaches and Enquirer staff insights.

The Enquirer also named its Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.

All award winners are listed separately from the first team but are considered first-team selections.

Here are the 2022 Hartselle Enquirer all-area football team and award winners:

Player of the Year – Isaiah Warnick, Falkville

Warnick finished the season with 54 receptions for 1,217 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns on offense while finishing with 117 tackles and 12 interceptions. According to MaxPreps, he finished 10th in the state in receiving yards and led the state in interceptions.

Coach of the Year – Bryan Moore, Hartselle

Hartselle head coach Bryan Moore led the Tigers to their second straight undefeated season and a 12-1 record overall, advancing to the third round of the 6A state playoffs. He has a 29-6 record in three years as the Tigers’ head coach.

Offense

Quarterback: Jack Smith, Hartselle – The senior finished 181-for-258 with 2,480 yards passing, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also had 557 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on 89 attempts.

Running Back: Mason Cartee, Priceville – The senior finished with 1,662 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns on 204 attempts. He also had six receptions for 221 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

Running Back: Ri Fletcher, Hartselle – The junior rushed for 1,306 yards and 18 touchdowns on 156 attempts. He also had 279 yards receiving and three touchdowns on 27 receptions.

Wide Receiver: Eli Tidwell, Hartselle – The senior had 54 receptions for 1,014 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 18.8 yards per reception.

Wide Receiver: Izayah Fletcher, Hartselle – The senior had 71 receptions for 907 yards and six touchdowns. He has signed with the University of North Alabama.

Offensive Line: Blaxton Royster, Priceville – The senior graded out at 97% with 63 pancake blocks. He led an offensive line that produced over 4,000 yards rushing.

Offensive Line: Reid Ellis, Hartselle – The senior graded out at 89.4% with 51 pancake blocks with no sacks allowed.

Offensive Line: Colton Stinson, Hartselle – The junior graded out at 86.3% with 57 pancake blocks with no sacks allowed.

Offensive Line: Lorenzo Ochoa, Falkville – The senior led the team with 69 pancake blocks.

Offensive Line: Landon Hanserd, Danville – The sophomore led the team with 41 pancake blocks.

Athlete: Gage Taylor, Danville – The senior finished with 685 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on 40 catches while rushing for 557 yards and two touchdowns on 71 attempts.

Athlete: Caden Burnett, Falkville – The senior finished 152-of-257 for 2,317 yards passing and 28 touchdowns while rushing for 582 yards and 11 touchdowns on 117 attempts.

Defense

Defensive Line: Sr. Dalton Green, Hartselle – The senior had 64 tackles with 22 tackles for loss and five sacks.

Defensive Line: Austin Melson, Falkville – The senior had 48 tackles with 23 tackles for loss.

Defensive Line: Porter Simmons, Hartselle – The sophomore had 89 tackles with 16 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Linebacker: Jake Langlois, Priceville – The senior had 133 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss, one interception, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Linebacker: Jake Haynes, Hartselle – The junior had 111 tackles with five tackles for loss and three sacks. He also had four pass breakups.

Linebacker: David Lockhart, Falkville – The senior had 70 tackles with 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Linebacker: Cole Flowers, Danville – The sophomore had 85 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Defensive Back: Peyton Steele, Hartselle – The junior had 108 tackles with three interceptions and eight pass breakups.

Defensive Back: Jakaleb Goodwin, Hartselle – The junior had 65 tackles with five interceptions and 18 pass breakups.

Defensive Back: Drake Borden, Hartselle – The junior had 42 tackles with a team-high six interceptions.

Defensive Back: Xander Gaines, Priceville – The senior had 70 tackles with two interceptions.

Defensive Back: Walker Latham, Brewer – The sophomore had five interceptions.

Special Teams

Kicker: Crawford Lang, Hartselle – The senior finished 11-of-16 on field goals with a long of 45, 53-of-57 on extra points and a school record 34 touchbacks.

Punter: Caden Childers, Brewer – The senior averaged 37.2 yards per punt on 24 punts with 10 inside the 20.
