The Hartselle Tigers boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a 71-46 victory over Fairview on Saturday.

Rylan Smothers led the Tigers (1-0) with 20 points and five rebounds, while Ty Odom added 19 points and five rebounds.

Hartselle led 16-11 late in the first quarter. Then, the Tigers broke open the game with a 27-5 run in the remainder of the first half to lead 43-17 at halftime.

The Tigers continued to pull away in the third quarter by outsourcing the Aggies 18-11 to take a 61-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

Brayden Thomas added nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in his first career start. Riley Thompson had eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
