Amy Terry Pace, a resident of Hartselle for 25 years, will return to the city’s school board to finish the final 27 months of an unexpired term.

Venita Jones submitted her resignation from the board’s Place 5 seat last month. Pace was chosen Tuesday by the remaining board members from two dozen applicants to finish Jones’ term, which ends in November 2025.

An engineer, Pace previously served a little more than four years on the board after being appointed to replace Mike Swafford when he resigned in September 2016 shortly after the municipal election.

Pace served the final two months of Swafford’s existing term then his four-year term that began in November of that year.

Pace ran for another full term in 2020 but lost the Place 1 race to Monty Vest, who was part of a unanimous vote Tuesday to appoint Pace as Jones’ replacement.

Pace is a 1991 graduate of Northview High in Dothan and has a mechanical engineering degree from Auburn University.
