Top local returning offensive players

As the 2023 season is approaching and teams are preparing to begin practice, it is time to get excited about the new season.

Teams begin play in less than a month, and the Hartselle Enquirer is highlighting some of the best returning offensive players in the area.

Ri Fletcher, SR. Hartselle

Fletcher, a senior, holds multiple college offers heading into the 2023 season. He was named to the 6A All-State team as an athlete in 2022. He finished his junior season with 1,306 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns while having 279 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He also had a combined 454 yards in kickoff and punt return yards with three touchdowns.

He enters the 2023 season with a career total of 2,760 yards rushing and 40 touchdowns. He also has 670 yards receiving on 63 receptions with eight touchdowns.

Blitz Clemons, SR, Priceville

Clemons, a senior, enters the 2023 season as the leading returning rusher for the run-heavy Priceville Bulldogs. He ran for 804 yards and seven touchdowns on 61 carries last season, finishing second on the team in rushing. He averaged over 13 yards a carry, which led the team.

Landon Powers, JR, Falkville

Powers, a junior, will take over at quarterback after playing wide receiver last season. He finished second on the team in receptions with 38, totaling 397 yards receiving with five touchdowns.

Landon Blackwood, SR, Hartselle

Blackwood, a senior, will be the fourth different starting quarterback for the Tigers in the last four years. He is the younger brother of JT Blackwood, who was the Tigers’ starting qb during the 2021 season. Landon played primarily as a receiver last season. He finished the season 11-of-17 with 199 yards passing and one touchdown. He also had 13 receptions for 187 yards and one touchdown.

Walker Latham, JR, Brewer

Latham, a junior, led Brewer with 32 receptions and 308 yards last season. He also tied for the team lead in touchdowns with two. He also had 12 carries for 53 yards.
