Eight area baseball players named to all-state teams

Eight local players were named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball all-state teams. Hartselle had five players chosen to the 6A teams while Priceville had three named to the 4A teams.

Hartselle was represented on the first team by seniors Coleman Mizell and Jack Smith as well as junior Peyton Steele. Mizell was named the 6A Hitter of the Year. Senior Eli Tidwell was named to the second team while junior Cam Palahach was named to the Honorable Mention team.

Mizell has signed with the University of Alabama while Smith has signed with the University of Arkansas. Tidwell has signed with Northwest-Shoals Community College.

Priceville had two 4A first-team selections, junior catcher Wes Walker and senior designated hitter Zach Chaney. Senior Thomas Kerby was chosen as a pitcher on the second team.

Chaney has signed with Tennessee Southern.
