In Memoriam

By Todd Barrier

Memorial Day is a day to honor and mourn all those who gave their life in the U.S. Armed Forces. It has been celebrated since the 1800s. It is a solemn holiday where we remember the ultimate sacrifice men and women gave for our freedoms. According to the Bible, dying for others is the highest showing of love there is (John 15:13.) As Christians, we honor the One who gave us freedom as well. Every Sunday when we come together it is a way to memorialize Jesus. We are reminded about what He did through song, prayer, lessons and the Lord’s Supper. There was no greater thing anyone has ever done than what Jesus did for all people of all nations. He gave up His life so we can give up our life of sin (1 Peter 2:24.) This year on Memorial Day, let’s not forget the men and women who died for this country and let’s not ever forget the one who died so we can have eternal life.
