SAR honors Hartselle educator

Special to the Enquirer

May 15, the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) presented a special award to Kim Jared, a teacher at Barkley Bridge Elementary.  This commendation, the Good Citizenship Award, is presented annually to a few individuals by the 200-member chapter.  Jared, a 2023 finalist for Alabama’s Teacher of the Year, was viewed by the chapter as the type of educator who consistently instills in the next generation the desire to learn and the civic values needed to preserve a great nation. The award was presented by Bob Anderson of Hartselle, who is the former President of SAR in Alabama. He said SAR views teachers as essential to the maintenance of good citizenship in a republic.  The award was presented at a school convocation and in the presence of Principal Laura Lamb, students, faculty and staff at the school.  All members of the SAR are bloodline descendants of Revolutionary War Patriots.
