Secret Service, US Marshalls aid in arrest of Hartselle man

Special to the Enquirer

Local and federal agencies arrested a Hartselle man April 28 and charged him with multiple felonies, including an outstanding warrant from Georgia.

James Francis Kubach, Jr., 32, of Hartselle was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, possession of a short-barrel shotgun and first-degree possession of marijuana.

Among agencies responding were the criminal investigations division of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, along with its drug enforcement unit, patrol officers, K9 unit and unmanned flight operations. The U.S. Marshals and Secret Service aided local agencies in capturing Kuback on Mt. Tabor Road in Hartselle.

Kubach was wanted in Georgia for armed robbery along with multiple federal probation violations, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office said he was found in the 100-block of Mt. Tabor Road where he attempted to flee from deputies before being captured.

After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia, along with a short barrel shotgun and a .380 handgun.

Kubach was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $17,500 bond.
