Local players sign collegiate scholarships

Hartselle’s Kiah Key and Ryan Dunn were two of four local athletes to sign letters of intent to continue their playing careers after high school this past week. Joining them were Danville’s Katie Tillman and Priceville’s Lauren Hames.

Key signed with Asbury University, a Division III school, while Dunn signed with UT-Southern.

Dunn finished his last year at Hartselle averaging 13.5 points and 3.1 assists, while Key averaged 12.3 points and 6.0 rebounds. They are the fourth and fifth Hartselle players to sign college scholarships under head coach Faron Key, joining Trace Hill (Faulkner), Tad Sivley (UT-Southern), and Brody Peebles (Liberty.)

Hames, who signed with Calhoun Community College, finished her career averaging 12.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She provided senior leadership as the Bulldogs reached the Class 4A state championship game.

Tillman signed to play softball at Oakwood University in Huntsville.
