Lawrence, Godfrey lead Hartselle to three wins

Bailey Lawrence picked up two wins, while Blayne Godfrey got a win and two saves to help the Tigers improve to 24-9-1 and win three times this past week. Hartselle defeated 5A No. 1 Brewbaker Tech, 7A No. 5 Spain Park and 6A No. 14 Mortimer Jordan while losing to 6A No. 1 Wetumpka.

Hartselle 7, Brewbaker Tech 1
The Tigers came out on top in a battle between 5A No. 1 Brewbaker Tech and 6A No. 2 Hartselle. Blayne Godfrey pitched a complete game, allowing one run on five hits with 11 strikeouts to earn the win. Brooklyn Stiles had a hit and three RBI, while Kaelyn Jones and Katie Gillott each had a hit and one RBI. Sarah Bowling and Virginia Kate Hoyle each had an RBI.

Hartselle 2, Spain Park 1
Lawrence notched her second win of the week in a 2-1 win over 7A No. 5 Spain Park. She pitched five innings, allowing two runs while striking out three. Godfrey pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out four. Brityan Godfrey had two hits and an RBI, while Katie Norgard had a double and one RBI.

Wetumpka 6, Hartselle 0
Wetumpka came out on top in a battle of 6A’s top two teams with a 6-0 victory. Jones had the Tiger’s only hit in the loss.

Hartselle 5, Mortimer Jordan 2
Jones had three hits, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base to lead Hartselle to a 5-2 win over Mortimer Jordan. Norgard had a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Lawrence got the win after going six innings and allowing four hits while striking out three. Blayne Godfrey earned the save with a scoreless inning of relief.
