Mike Lindsey, 60, of Hartselle passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born March 17, 1963, in Morgan County, to Ted Weinman Lindsey and Joe Paulette Smallwood Lindsey. He was employed in the construction industry. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include daughter, Jessica Long; sisters, Rhonda Standridge, Kristen Jones, and Jennifer Askew (Bryan); brother, Terry Lindsey (Amy); grandchild, Marlie Long. No services have been scheduled at this time.

 

Margaret Gail Compton

Vinemont

Funeral Service for Margaret Gail Compton, 76 of Vinemont was held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Eva Baptist Church with Bro. Zack Scott and Bro. Phillip Robinson officiating with burial in Union Hill Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. She was born February 2, 1946 in Morgan County, AL to William Taylor and Myrtie Wilson Taylor. Margaret passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was a member of Eva Baptist Church. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Benny Joe Compton; step-brother, Lanier Taylor; step-dad Artemis Fortenberry. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Survivors include son, Anthony Compton (Olivia); two grandchildren, Kimberly Compton and Johnathan Casteel; two great-grandchildren, Austin Casteel and Matthew Casteel.

Pallbearers were Tony Jackson, Cody Beam, Johnathan Casteel, Jimmy Fortenberry and Jimmy Oden.

Larry Jackson “Jackie” Belew

Larry Jackson “Jackie” Belew of Hartselle, Ala. was born on July 20, 1953 to Alvin Jackson “Jack” Belew and Odean Tucker Belew, in Hartselle, Ala. He transitioned from this life to heaven on March 21, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Ala. Services were held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at New Life Church in Falkville with Peck Funeral Home directing and Rev. Phillip
Hardin officiating. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Belew Price.
Left to cherish 45 years of memories are his wife, Kelley Moore Belew and his son, Robert Jackson Belew, a niece and nephew as well as a host of extended family. Jackie worked in the automotive industry at Abercrombie Chevrolet and he spent more than 30 years at Mitch Smith Chevrolet. Jackie loved Nascar, Alabama football, Atlanta Braves and UAB softball, but most of all he loved his family. Jackie was always willing to lend a helping hand, even in his death he was an organ donor which allows him to keep helping others. Jackie was a quiet man. He always had a hug and a smile and he will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Donations may be made to New Life Church, 1160 W Lacon Road, Falkville, AL 35622.

 

Tyler Weston Gardiner

Hartselle

Tyler Gardiner, born April 29, 2014, passed away at the age of 8-years-old Thursday, March 16, 2023. He had an infectious laugh and smile that could cheer anyone up. He always had a positive outlook; nothing could get him down. He was inventive, smart, funny, outgoing, and a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend. He enjoyed exploring the outdoors, playing video games, swimming and spending time with his grandparents, brother, cousins, aunts, uncle, and friends. He is survived by his father, Dennis, grandparents, Ronnie and Patti, as well as his brother, Hayden, his aunts Trish, Sarah and Jessica, his uncle Charlie, his cousin, Marlie, and his beloved turtle, Rex. In lieu of flowers, Tyler’s family is asking for donations to be sent to a memorial fund set up in his name at Redstone Federal Credit Union. No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.

 

Kenneth Dell Cooper

Hartselle

Memorial graveside service for Kenneth Dell Cooper, 67 of Hartselle will be Wednesday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at Aldridge Grove Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home is assisting the family. Kenneth was born February 1, 1956, in Lawrence County, Ala. to William Odell Cooper and Eva A. Tanksley Cooper. He passed away Saturday, March 25, at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ted Cooper. Kenneth was a loving father to two daughters, two grandsons and two granddaughters. He had a big heart, loved planting flowers and mowing the yard. Kenneth was an Atlanta Braves Fan, and loved Nascar racing, working on small engines and putting model cars together. Survivors include two daughters, Kelley Lovelady (Chris) and Keitha Sullivan (David); brother, Charles Cooper (Audrey); two sisters, Molly King and Amelia Johnson (Tim); two grandsons, David Pope (Chelsea) and Maguire Pope (Julie); two granddaughters, Peyton Sullivan and Avery Sullivan.

 

 

Dana Taylor Cottingham

Funeral service for Dana Taylor Cottingham, 70, was held Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Taylor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in Midway Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cottingham passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at her residence. She was born May 10, 1952, in Morgan County, to Duane L. Taylor and Geneva Green Taylor. She was a barber and owned and operated Dana’s Barber Shop for 41 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved growing tomatoes and shopping at T.J. Maxx. Survivors include husband of 54 years, Roger Cottingham; daughter, Rea (Johnny) Cheatham; brothers, David D. (Cathy) Taylor, Paul (Jan) Taylor and Joseph Taylor; sisters, Kathy A. Taylor and Jennifer (Ronnie) Asherbranner; grandchildren, Irelyn Cheatham and Ivy Cheatham; her fur baby, Leo that she loved dearly. Pallbearers were Jerome Taylor, Bryan Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Joseph McAbee.
