Legion has successful first Cars and Coffee event

The threat of rain didn’t put a damper on the first Cars & Coffee event held Saturday at the American Legion in Hartselle.

The turnout was better than expected given the possible wet weather according to Ferrell Vest, public relations officer for Post 52.

“(We) had between 40 and 45 vehicles (to) come in and out,” Vest said.

The event will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month, weather permitting.

The public is invited to join in to enjoy the cars, coffee and camaraderie. While donations to the post are appreciated, no fees or pre-registration is necessary. All proceeds will benefit the veterans of the John F. Thompson American Legion Post 52 and various community charity programs.
