Hartselle soccer teams off to undefeated start

The Hartselle boys and girls soccer teams are off to an undefeated start following the girls’ 3-0 finish at the Lakewood Shootout this past weekend.

Girls
The Lady Tigers finished 3-0 at the Lakewood Shootout and runner-up based on a tie-breaker. The defense picked up three shutouts while the offense netted 16 goals in their three games. They defeated Marbury 4-0 and Gulf Shores 2-0 before closing the tournament with an 11-0 victory over Carver.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers defeated Arab 7-2. Maddy Henry scored a hat trick, while Kylie French added two goals. Katelyn Dolbeer and Addison Button each scored a goal.

Hartselle opened their season with a 10-0 win over Elkmont. Dolbeer scored four goals, while French added three. Henry had two and Cara Beth Nelson finished with one.

Boys
The boys’ team is off to a 2-0-1 start after wins over Elkmont, Arab and a tie versus Hazel Green.

The Tigers fought to a 1-1 tie with Hazel Green on Feb. 14. Owen Bennich scored Hartselle’s lone goal.

On Feb. 13, Hartselle ran past Arab 6-1 to get their second victory of the season. Slate Gargus had a hat trick to lead the Tigers. Bennich netted two, while Jack Adams scored one.

The Tigers opened the season with a 3-0 win over Elkmont. Scoring goals for Hartselle were Bennich, Luke Minnon and Eli Moore. Quincy Cattes had an assist.
