Are you conforming to God or the world?

By Todd Barrier

As Christians, we should always be looking for ways to improve our relationship with God. We all know the Bible is the place to find the foundation for a Christian life. There are many places to look. Romans is a good book for improving our relationship with God. Romans is like an instruction manual for living a Christian life. Today, let’s focus on the first two verses of Romans 12 to set a good foundation. The Bible says in Rom. 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

In these verses we see some good advice on how to live a life worthy of Christ.

  • God calls you to His side (beseech) to conform to Him, not the world.
  • God wants you at His disposal (present your bodies a living sacrifice) to do His will.
  • God lets us know these requests are a logical (reasonable service) progression in our relationship with Him.
  • God wants us to conform to His pattern (do not conform to the world)

With this we know God walks with us to get us to our eternal home with Him. Are you conforming to God or the world?
