Downtown merchants decorating storefronts for Christmas

By Staff Reports

Local businesses are getting in the Christmas spirit and spreading a little joy this holiday season by participating in a window decorating contest hosted by Main Street West.

The independent project was designed to attract good traffic, both driving and walking, to the downtown area to see all of the beautifully decorated, brightly lit windows during the holiday season, according to Main Street West co-owner Laura Ritch.

The event will be held from Dec.1-30.

Winners will receive signs for first, second and third place awards and two honorable mentions to display.

Ritch added some merchants have requested a Peoples’ Choice Award and plans are currently being worked out for that prize. Judging will take place Dec. 6 and winners will be announced the following day.
