A graveside funeral service and interment for Mack R. Taylor, 95, was held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama, with Bro. Ellis Wayand officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Taylor died Monday, October 24, 2022 at his son Alan’s residence. He was born August 7, 1927, in Morgan County, to Charlie D. Taylor and Sallie Sulcer Taylor. He started at a young age in retail at David Lee’s in Athens, then on to Dunavant’s in Huntsville. He then went from Roger’s Department Store as a buyer and manager in Florence and to another opportunity in the late 1960s to Mays and Jones Department Store in Pell City as a buyer and manager there. From there the owner of Maison Morgan needed him so his family moved to Hartselle to manage and ultimately, he became the sole Owner and CEO of the business. He loved the retail business with all of his heart, but always put his family and special friends first. Preceding him in death were his wife, Opal Marie Taylor; a son, Ned Taylor; his parents, and three brothers. Survivors include sons, Alan Taylor (Mitzi) and Lynn Taylor (Kim); daughter-in-law, Sherry Taylor (wife of Ned); brother, Kenneth Taylor; sister, Ozell Lowery; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Funeral service for Jamie Bukszar, 51, was held Friday, October 28, 2022 at
1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gullet officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Bukszar died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Lake Guntersville (Honeycomb). He was born May 28, 1971, in Tampa, Florida, to Frank Julian Bukszar and Clarabell Armor Bukszar. He was employed as a truck driver for XPO Logistics for 30 years. He loved his family with all of his heart. He was a very loving husband, father, Paw Paw and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Casondra Bukszar; sons, Joey Bukszar and Dillion Bukszar (Alisha); daughters, Whitney Fite (Ben) and Amberly Mason (Danny); stepmother, Margaret Bukszar; mother-in-law, Linda Maxwell; brother, Bobby Bukszar; sister, Penny Maxwell (Howard); step-sister, Tami Mullins (Sean); grandchildren, Payton, Haiyden, Bentlee and Holdyn Bukszar, Ethan and Weston Mason,
Paisley Fite, Lynlee and Brooke Bukszar; four step grandchildren, Eli and Oliver Fite and Paisley and Remington Barber. Pallbearers were Ben Fite, Maleke Villasenor, Eladio Villasenor,
Tobias Clark, Mike Hodge and Scott Shelton.

Funeral service for Charles Wayne “Jimmy” McCaghren, 78, was held Thursday,
October 27, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Ledbetter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Enon Baptist Cemetery. Mr. McCaghren died Monday, October 24, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born January 11, 1944, in Morgan County, to Elmer Cecil McCaghren and Audie Mae McDonald McCaghren. He was employed by Aramark as a truck driver, prior to his retirement. He loved Alabama football, fishing and gardening. He was a musician, who could play almost any instrument and loved gospel and country music. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Billy Joe and Bobby Ray McCaghren. Survivors include wife, Gail Ledlow McCaghren; sons, Tim McCaghren and Jarrod McCaghren (Amanda); daughter, Robin Lindsey (Adam); sister,
Lottie Hensley; grandchildren, Mackenzie McCaghren, Dakota McCaghren,
Cain McCaghren and Julia Halberstadt; great grandchildren, Maddie Lindsey  

and Easton Lindsey. Pallbearers were family and friends.

October 29, 2022 at 12 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Falkville with
Bro. Bobby Ray Halbrooks and Bro. Phillip Gilbert officiating and Peck
Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Falkville City Cemetery. Mr. Owens died  

Monday, October 24, 2022 at his residence. He was born September 30, 1944,  

in Lucas County, Ohio, to James Malcolm Owens and Lilly Kelly Owens. He was employed by Wolverine Tube in the purchasing and scheduling department, prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Zachary Owens and Nathan Roberts and a sister, Juanita Gray. Survivors include wife, Ginny Owens; sons, Mark Owens, William “Billy” Pierce Owens, Jr. (Leigh), Jacob Roberts, and Josh Roberts (Sarah); daughter, Johanna Folds (Jeremy); brothers, Jimmy Owens (Javon) and Kenny Owens (Gail); grandchildren, Misty Owens, Megan Owens, Sydney Owens, Isaiah Folds, AnnaGrace Folds, Aiden Folds, Alexis Roberts, Jaxon Roberts, Sammi and Lawson; five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were family members.

Funeral service for Nori Anne Throneberry, 51, was held Saturday, October 29,
2022 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home
directing. Mrs. Throneberry died Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Decatur Morgan
Hospital.  She was born April 15, 1971, in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, to
Michael Kopaczewski and Eileen Talaga Kopaczewski. She was a homemaker for her family whom she loved dearly. Her love for her babies, grandbabies and pets were the most pure love there was. She was the glue to her family. She loved to read, especially Stephen King, enjoyed her
fireplace and loved being with the family around the fireplace during the
holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include husband, Vince Throneberry; sons, Evan Marth (Kristen) and Codi Throneberry (Tylar); daughters, Breanna Throneberry (Addyson Kinney) and Krystal Simms; sisters, Leesha Grefkes and Peggy Marth; grandchildren, Aiden, Haven, Scarlet, Dawson, Lacey and Logan.

in Bethel Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Lawrence died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  She was born April 16, 1957, in Cullman County, to Henry Lee
Grant and Lessie Mae Holcomb Grant. Mrs. Lawrence worked in manufacturing for GTE for 19 years. She was a member of Soul Harbor Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano for the church. Mrs. Lawrence was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Evelyn Burleson. Survivors include husband, Roger Allen Lawrence; daughters, Cassandra Jean Cook (Douglas Matthew Cook) and Ashley Nicole Lawrence White (Alexander Charles White III); brothers, William Robert Grant and Norman Grant; grandchildren, Nicholas David Cook, Elizabeth Nicole Lawrence, Cameron Alexander White and Braxton Charles White.

Funeral service for Dorothy Ellis, 77, was held Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Eva Cemetery. Ms. Ellis died Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Hospice Family Care.  She was born November 10, 1944, in Lawrence County, to Mary Alice Strickland Minor. She was an owner and operator of Ellis Embroidery in Falkville and was a member of the Falkville First Baptist Church prior to her passing. Dorothy loved to travel with her Silver Spirit friends and always enjoyed lunch with family and friends. She had traveled to almost all 50 states, loved to watch her grandkids play sports. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and reading and was the most loving mother and grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rodney Ellis and a sister, Susan Smith. Survivors include daughters, Tina Palmer (Barrion), Connie Baker (Keith), and Stacy Beavers (Tim); brothers, Franklin Minor and Ronnie Minor; sisters, Ella Smith, Barbara Smith, and Catherine Smith; grandchildren, Melissa, Amanda, Alaina, Emily, James, Julie and Cedric; great-grandchild Annalise. Pallbearers were Keith Baker, Tim Beavers, Cedric Beavers, John Gloeckler, Barrion Palmer and James Palmer.

Funeral service for Jane Powell Garner, 82, was held Sunday, October 30, 2022
at 3 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with Bro. Charlie Brown and Bro.
Marty Hand officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in
Salem Cemetery. Mrs. Garner died Friday, October 28, 2022 at Shepard’s Cove Hospice.
She was born August 31, 1940, in Morgan County, to Thomas Arthur Powell and
Margaret Nesmith Powell. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church where she played the piano, organ, was a worship leader and was very active in UMW. She wrote
various Christmas plays and advent programs. She loved her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, her daughter and son-in-law with all her heart. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bobby Garner, her parents and a brother, Jimmy Powell. Survivors include daughter, Sonya Garner Lett (Keith); sister, Celia Vest; grandchildren, Bradley Lett (Stephanie) and Jennifer Lett; great grandchildren, Storm, Gabi, Josselyn, Garner, Tucker, Cooper and Wrenley Pallbearers were Dwain Powell, Scott Woodard, Sr., Bucky Garner, Randy Vest, Wes Vest, Wade Vest and Mark Shaneyfelt.
 

Doug Mason

Funeral Service for Doug Mason, 74, of Hartselle was held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Garrison officiating with burial in the New Center Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Mason was born August 5, 1948 in Morgan County to Oscar Ulessis Mason and Mary Edia Sherril. He passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Doug attended Christ Fellowship Church of God in Hartselle. He worked as a carpenter for over 50 years. He did commercial fishing and Musella shell diver. He also worked at a hotel as a cook, a radiator repairman and at a nursery planting trees and shrubs. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Doug never stood still. He raised pugs, chickens, cats, you name it he did it. He never met a stranger and he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He fished and hunted and skint fish at the end of the day for a restaurant. He was a good man all around. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Mason and Malcolm Mason; five sisters, Lou Eddie Borden (Shorty), Arthina Borden, Pearl Martin (Leroy), Mary Haraway and Linda Lanier (Jim). Survivors include wife of 56 years, Wanda Mason; two sons, Rodney Mason and his two daughters, Hope Mason and Malea Mason; Ray Mason (Paige) and his two sons, Hunter Mason, Trevor Mason (Sammy); two daughters, Donna Arney (Kenny) and her daughter, Kristi Arnett (Zane), and two sons, Justin Polk (Natigleigh) and Alex Polk; sister-In-law, Tonya Mason; sister, Lonnie Boston (Forest); brother-In-law, Ross Haraway; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rodney Mason, Ray Mason, Zane Arnett, Mike Smith, Tray Smith and Quinton Smith.

Funeral Service for Cynthia Holcomb Puckett, 48, of Eva was held Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Wray officiating with burial in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery at Eva with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Puckett, who was born on April 20, 1974 in Morgan County to Therman and Totsie Holcomb, died Friday, October 28, 2022 at her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend who fought a hard fight to beat cancer, but is now without pain and suffering and is in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her father, Therman Holcomb and both sets of grandparents. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Randy Puckett; children, Brittney Puckett, Madison Puckett, and Nathan Puckett; granddaughter, Kinsley; mother, Totsie Holcomb; sisters, Renay Holcomb and Kim Hall (Jeff); brothers, Terry Holcomb (Tammy) and Phillip Holcomb (Kelley). Phillip Holcomb, Bryant Davis, Timothy Bell, Jeff Hall, Jay Reid, Camden Reid and Nic Reid served as pallbearers. 

 

Curtis “Red” Brown

A celebration of life for Mr. Curtis “Red” Brown was held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. at his daughter’s house. Mr. Brown died October 29, 2022 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1949 in Morgan County to James Howard Brown and Marron Delene Cox Brown. He retired from Wolverine Tube after many years of service. Mr. Brown is survived by wife, Diane May Brown of Falkville; daughter, Melissa Henderson (Michael) of Eva; son, Chris Brown (Sharon Hardison) of Decatur; two grandchildren, Autumn C. Rook and Zachary Brown and one nephew. 

 

Anthony “Buddy Roe” Burns

Funeral service for Anthony “Buddy Roe” Burns, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Harvel and Brother Brad Roath officiating with burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Burns, who was born October 29, 1960 in Decatur, died Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Burns. Anthony enjoyed fishing, helping others around him and he loved his faithful companion “Lucky.” He is survived by wife, Lorie Burns; son, Brandon Burns; daughter, Amanda Langley; stepchildren, Jonathan Newman, Stephen Newman, Summer Seamons and Lauren Seamons; mother, Carolyn Burns; brother, Jeff Burns; sister, Maria Burns Sandlin. Timmy Blackwood, Steve Long, Stephen Stoner, Stephen Newman, Jonathan Newman and Brandon Burns served as pallbearers.
