Two arrested near Massey after shooting

Just before 5 a.m. July 21, Morgan County 911 received a call regarding a shooting. The caller reported their vehicle had been shot into and one occupant had been injured.

Deputies and EMS located the caller on Highway 157 near Massey, where the subject was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators arrived on scene and, through the course of the investigation, obtained a search warrant on a home in the 1100 block of Pleasant View Road, southwest of Highway 157.

Deputies, assisted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed the search warrant and located two individuals in a camper on the property.

Deputies arrested Blain Russell Speakman, 30, of Falkville on a probation violation. Speakman was booked in the Morgan County Jail and given no bond. Deputies also arrested Jennifer Nicole Godsey, 36, of Town Creek on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Godsey was booked in the Morgan County Jail and given a bond of $3,765.60

Authorities said the shooting investigation is ongoing with additional arrests and charges possible.
