Burks finishes fourth in the long jump at the World Championships

Hartselle’s Quanesha Burks finished fourth in the women’s long jump at the 2022 World Championships on July 24. The event was held at the historic Heyward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.

She finished just off the podium with a jump of 6.88 meters. Leticia Oro Melo of Brazil edged Burks out with a personal best jump of 6.89 meters to win the bronze medal. Malaika Mihambo of Germany won the event with a jump of 7.12 meters.

Burks entered the finals Sunday as the top qualifier from Saturday’s semifinals with of jump of 6.86 meters.
