Funeral service for Virginia Stringer Green, 93, was held Wednesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Dobbs and Bro. Cecil Berry officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery. Mrs. Green died Sunday, July 10, 2022 at her residence. She was born March 28, 1929, in Morgan County to Marvin Roth Lorance and Annie Mae Berry Lorance. She was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, in the spooling department, prior to her retirement. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking and was a long-time member of New Friendship Baptist Church before moving to Decatur and after attending First Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Hubert Stringer and Elbert Green, her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include daughter, Shirley Stringer (Schrimsher) Parker, Decatur; son, William Gary Stringer, Hartselle; sister, Fran Bishop, Decatur; grandchildren, Chris Schrimsher (Cammie) and April Williams (Joel); three great grandchildren, Hillary, Holden and Elizabeth Pallbearers were Chris Schrimsher, Joel Williams, Michael Dobbs, Johnny Cook and Steve Dobbs.

A memorial service for Janie Diane Hudson, 70, was held at Flint Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 with Bro. Wendall Bennett officiating. Peck Funeral Home assisted the family. Mrs. Hudson died Monday, July 11, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born December 7, 1951, in Georgia to Robert Griffith and Mamie Douglas Griffith. She was a dedicated wife of 52 years, a loving mother and Nana and a very good cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She always put others first. She loved hummingbirds and butterflies and her two best friends, Debbie and Delores. She was employed by Applied Industrial Industries, prior to her retirement. She was a member of Flint Baptist Church. Her parents preceded her in death. Her family would like to thank the staff of the fourth floor at Decatur Morgan Hospital and the staff at CCI for taking care of Mrs. Hudson. The family also appreciates Flint Baptist Church for allowing their mom to be a part of their church family. Survivors include husband, John Hudson; daughters, Michelle Aguilar (Steve)

Richard D Jones passed away June 27, 2022. He was born December 10, 1946, to Rolland Sanford Jones and Genevieve Louise Brant Lewis. He is preceded in death by his parents. No services have been scheduled at this time. He loved woodworking. He was a member Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Anders Jones; brother, Kenneth Lewis (Auburndale, Fla.); mother-in-law, Jean Eubanks, Hartselle; father-in-law, Bobby Anders (Dixie), Missouri; brother-in-law, Sean Anders, Erie, Co.; sister-in-law, Vickie Harville (Danny) Moulton; brothers-in-law, Steve Anders (Sherry) Hartselle and Chuck Anders (Teresa) Hartselle; four nieces, one nephew; two great nieces and four great nephews.

Mrs. Juanitta Massey, 56, died Saturday, July 16, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born February 19, 1966, in Franklin County, to Foy Lee McPherson and Shirley Fay Chandler McPherson. She was a wonderful wife for 36 years, mother and grandmother, preceded in death by her parents and a

brother, Charles Foy McPherson. Survivors include husband, Jeff Massey; sons, Joshua Massey and David Massey; brother, Timothy Lee McPherson; sisters, Rita Corum and Patricia Howard; sister-in-law, Louise Edge; grandchildren, Charles Michael Massey, Christopher David Massey and Noah Keith Lansdale. Her family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Funeral service for Frances Watson Morgan, 92, was held Monday, July 18, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason McAbee and Bro. Tom Campbell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Caddo Congregational Church Cemetery. Mrs. Morgan died on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Parkway Medical Center. She was born December 30, 1929, in Morgan County, to Ora Estus Watson and Mary Jane Speegle Watson. She was a homemaker for her family and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, reading and mostly loved her family and spending time with them. Preceding her in death were her husband, Redding Morgan, her parents, a sister, Lillian Adcock Overstreet, two brothers, Vance Watson and Carlos Watson, three grandsons, Dallas McAbee, Jared Moore and Jeff Johnson and a daughter-in-law, Shelia Morgan. Survivors include sons, Kenneth Morgan (Sherry), James Morgan, Timmie Morgan (Rebekah), Billy Joe Morgan (Sue), Charles Morgan (Robin) and Robert Morgan (Patricia); daughters, Elizabeth Self (David), Susan Breeding (John), Joyce Moore (James) and Rosa McAbee (Jason); Sister, Betty Black; 40 grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. The grandsons served as pallbearers.

Funeral service for Mildred Ferrell Varnadore, 83, was held July 19, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery. at Peck Funeral Home Mrs. Ferrell died on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her residence in Pensacola, Florida. She was born March 23, 1939, in Carter County, Oklahoma, to George Valton Jones and Mildred Kathryn Martin Jones. She previously worked as an owner/operator of a trucking company with her husband, George. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, George Ferrell, and Frank Varnadore; two brothers, two sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Robin Ferrell. Survivors include sons, Jamie Ferrell (Cathy) and Jerry Ferrell (Tammy); daughters, Jane Knight (Lee) and Judy Smallwood (Billy); companion, Donald Sears; grandchildren, Cliff Ferrell, Jason Ferrell, Lucas Ferrell, Carmen Ferrell, Heather Pullam, Adam Johnson, Zac Ferrell, Corey Knight, Brittney Henderson, Emily Shelton, Patrick Knight, April Clark, Dustin Hill and Peyton Barnes; thirty-five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jason Ferrell, Hayden Thomson, Lucas Ferrell, Corey Knight, Chase Henderson and Adam Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were Jaxson Ferrell, Jay Henderson, Lana Thrasher, Hudson Ferrell, Cliff Ferrell and Jace Ferrell.

Ricky Carson Brannon, 65, of Hartselle, passed away July 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 5, 1957, in Fort Benning, Ga. to Carson Brannon and Sue Veal Brannon. No services have been planned at this time. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Ricky owned and operated Decatur Vacuum for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cathy McCarthy, and nephew, Joey Brannon. He is survived by his wife, Lori Brannon; four sons, Sean Brannon, Carson Brannon, Todd Sargent, and Tucker Sargent; four brothers, Donnie Brannon, Gary Brannon, Greg Brannon, and Tony Brannon; sister, Patricia Beaty; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral service for Hal Lamar Moore, 88, was held Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Hartselle First United Methodist Church with Bro. Mike Pope officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery. Mr. Moore died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his residence. He was born April 1, 1934, in Morgan County, to Early Alton Moore and Annie Lovene Cornelius Moore. He was employed by and retired from Daniel F. Young NYC in Logistics Management for D.O.D. and R.S.A. He was a member of the Hartselle First United Methodist Church. He was a DHS graduate and enlisted in the United States Army and became a Combat Veteran 2nd Infantry Division, was awarded Korean Svc Medal w/2 BN Stars 1952-53. He attended Howard and Samford University, then enlisted in and worked full time as an air technician in the Air National Guard, 117th TRW from 1957-64. He was called to active duty in 1961 and deployed to Dreaux AFB, France. Moore joined MICOM from1964 until his retirement in 1988. He served further as Ctr Consultant for 27 years, MID EAST. He then left the service at age 81. He was a member of FUMC, Auburn Alumni, served on the board of directors of Hartselle Camp Meeting Association, he received three Special Act Awards, numerous OPR’s MICOM, a special award from Governor of Kuwait and the Secretary of Defense called a downtown meeting that included photos, a letter and plaque. He was an honor grad from DISAM WPAFB, Dayton, Ohio, Army Log Ctr, Ft. Lee, Va. His total length of service was slightly over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Annie Moore and grandson, Matthew Lamar Engle. Survivors include wife, Barbara Lee Holladay Moore; daughters, Dianne Moore Wilson (David) and Nancy Moore Engle (Ken); sister, Marie Moore Speegle; three grandchildren Lisa Little (Fletcher), Daniel Engle (Katharine) and Leigh (Dean); three great-grandchildren, Avery Little, Leah Little and Fletcher C. Little IV. The pallbearers were David Wilson, Ken Engle, Daniel Engle, Fletcher C. Little, III, David Dean, Tim Speegle, Jeff Speegle and Craig Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HFUMC Good Samaritan Fund, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Auburn General Scholarship Fund. The family would like to thank Lucy, Christina, Valerie and Amanda with Kindred Hospice and David Reece, Morgan and Darlene King with Visiting Angels for their personal and excellent care of their husband and father.

Burial was in Somerville City Cemetery. Mr. Allen died on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1940, in Harlan County, Ky., to Elige Allen and Ada Carnes Allen. He was employed by and retired from General Motors, as a committee man for the United Auto Workers. He was a loving, caring husband and father. He was led to the Lord by Somerville Baptist Church, before his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Allen, his parents, and a grandson, Matthew Allen. Survivors include sons, Darrell Allen, Mickey Allen (Lauren) and Scott Allen (Angela); ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Chris Dunn, Darrell Allen, Mickey Allen, Scott Allen, Jeremy Patterson and Jordan Sides.
