College Street Players to present Little Women July 28-30

By Staff Reports

Join Jo, Marmee, Beth and the rest of the March gang when the College Street Players present their theatrical rendition of Little Women July 28-30.

This adaptation of the literary classic by Louisa May Alcott is rich with strong and superb acting roles for all performers, according to Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. who produced the play written for the stage by Gary Peterson.

“Four sisters, each with a distinctively different personality, offer an irresistible charm as we see them grow up to experience life’s joys and disappointments,” Pioneer’s website reads. “Peterson has much experience adapting classics for the stage, and here he has deftly selected many of the most charming and memorable scenes from the story to dramatize the magic that makes the book such an enduring classic. We especially love this warm and winning adaptation because it includes scenes with Professor Bhaer, so often left out of other condensed adaptations.

“Audiences of all ages will be highly entertained with this staging that radiates the timeless essence of a family that cares deeply for one another — the inspiration and pathos, the laughter and love.”

The cast stars Margaret Rodgers as spirited tomboy Josephine “Jo” March, Jenna Dozier as her older, beautiful sister Meg, Olivia Patterson as baby of the family Amy, Elizabeth Weeks as sickly, gentle musician Beth and Lindsey Giambrone as Marmee, who runs a frugal but happy home while their father is away serving as a chaplain in the Civil War.

Grace Pfoutz, Madison Ashley, James Yarbrough, T.J. Brown, Ty Holmes, Louanne Blankenship, David Giambrone, Journie Yarbrough and Cape Sandlin round out the cast. The production is directed by Jenny Faulk.

The College Street Players will present Little Women at The Venue in downtown Hartselle, located at 315 Main St. W.

The production will begin at 7 p.m. nightly with a matinee showing at 2 p.m. Saturday.

General admission tickets cost $15 while students and seniors can see the play for $10. Children three-years-old and younger are free. Visit www.collegestreetplayers.org/tickets-stuff to purchase tickets.
